Effective Acupressure Points for Peripheral Neuropathy

Peripheral neuropathy is a condition that affects the nerves outside the brain and spinal cord, causing pain, numbness, and tingling sensations. Acupressure, a traditional Chinese therapy based on applying pressure to specific points on the body, can help alleviate these symptoms. Here are some effective acupressure points for peripheral neuropathy:

  1. Kidney 3 (KI3): Located on the inner side of the ankle, in a depression between the Achilles tendon and the ankle bone. Apply firm pressure with your thumb or index finger and massage in a circular motion for a few minutes.
  2. Urinary Bladder 60 (UB60): Situated on the back of the leg, between the Achilles tendon and the outer ankle bone. Apply pressure using your thumb or knuckle and massage in a circular or up-and-down motion for several minutes.
  3. Gallbladder 34 (GB34): Found on the outer side of the lower leg, below the knee and in front of the fibula bone. Apply pressure with your thumb or knuckle and massage in a circular or up-and-down motion for a few minutes.
  4. Large Intestine 4 (LI4): Located on the back of the hand, between the thumb and index finger, in the fleshy area. Apply pressure with your thumb and index finger, squeezing this point for a few seconds and releasing, repeating the process multiple times.
  5. Spleen 6 (SP6): Situated on the inside of the leg, approximately three finger-widths above the ankle bone. Apply firm pressure using your thumb or knuckle and massage in a circular or up-and-down motion for a few minutes.

Remember to consult with a qualified acupressure therapist or medical professional before attempting acupressure for peripheral neuropathy. While acupressure is generally safe, individual circumstances may vary, and professional guidance ensures the best results.
