Lancia Delta

The Lancia Delta is a popular and stylish car known for its reliability and performance. Routine maintenance, such as oil changes, are essential to keep your Lancia Delta running smoothly. While taking your vehicle to a professional mechanic is an option, performing an oil change yourself can save you both time and money. Here is a step-by-step guide to help you with a DIY oil change for your Lancia Delta.

Step 1: Gather the necessary tools and materials

Before starting, ensure you have the following:

  • Oil filter wrench
  • Oil drain pan
  • New oil filter
  • New engine oil
  • Funnel
  • Lug wrench (to remove the car's drain plug)

Step 2: Prepare your car

Park your Lancia Delta on a flat surface and engage the parking brake. Lift the front end of the car using a hydraulic jack and secure it with jack stands for safety.

Step 3: Drain the old oil

Position the oil drain pan underneath the oil drain plug, located on the bottom of the engine oil pan. Use the lug wrench to carefully loosen and remove the plug, allowing the old oil to drain completely. Once drained, reattach the drain plug tightly.

Step 4: Replace the oil filter

Locate the oil filter, usually positioned near the engine. Unscrew the old oil filter using an oil filter wrench and let any remaining oil drain into the pan. Apply a thin layer of new engine oil to the rubber gasket of the new filter and screw it on by hand until snug. Do not overtighten.

Step 5: Add new engine oil

Remove the oil filler cap, usually located on the top of the engine, and insert a funnel. Pour the correct amount of new engine oil, as specified in your car's manual, into the engine. Ensure to pour it slowly to avoid spills. Once completed, securely replace the oil filler cap.

Step 6: Check the oil level

After allowing a few minutes for the oil to settle, use the dipstick to check the oil level. Wipe the dipstick clean, insert it back into the tube, and then remove it again to get an accurate reading. The oil level should be within the designated range on the dipstick. Add more oil if necessary.

Step 7: Dispose of the old oil properly

Dispose of the old oil responsibly by taking it to a local recycling center or an auto parts store that accepts used oil.

Congratulations! You have successfully completed the DIY oil change for your Lancia Delta. Regular oil changes help maintain the engine's performance and prolong its lifespan. Remember to check your car's manual for recommended oil type and intervals for future oil changes.
