GLC 300 Engine Oil Change Procedure

Regular engine oil changes are essential to keep your GLC 300 running smoothly and prolong the life of your engine. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to change the engine oil in your GLC 300:

Materials You'll Need:

• New engine oil
• Oil filter
• Wrench set
• Drain pan
• Oil filter wrench
• New oil drain plug washer (if necessary)

Step 1: Prepare Your Vehicle

Ensure that your GLC 300 is parked on a level surface and the engine has cooled down. It is also recommended to put on protective gloves or use a rag to protect your hands.

Step 2: Locate the Oil Drain Plug

Lift the vehicle using a jack or ramps to access the undercarriage. Locate the oil drain plug, which is usually located on the bottom of the engine oil pan.

Step 3: Position the Drain Pan

Position the drain pan directly under the oil drain plug before removing it. The drain pan will collect the old oil as it drains out.

Step 4: Remove the Oil Drain Plug

Using an appropriate wrench, carefully loosen and remove the oil drain plug. Make sure to keep the drain pan steady as the oil begins to flow out.

Step 5: Drain the Old Oil

Allow the old oil to completely drain out into the pan. This may take a few minutes. Once the oil has stopped dripping, replace the drain plug. If the washer on the drain plug is worn out, make sure to replace it with a new one.

Step 6: Remove and Replace the Oil Filter

Locate the oil filter, which is usually located near the bottom of the engine. Use an oil filter wrench to carefully remove the old oil filter. Dispose of the old filter properly. Apply a thin layer of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new oil filter before installing it. Tighten the new filter securely by hand.

Step 7: Add New Engine Oil

Refer to your GLC 300 owner's manual to know the specific type and amount of engine oil required. Use a funnel to carefully pour the new engine oil into the oil filler opening. Once you have poured in the recommended amount of oil, replace the oil filler cap.

Step 8: Check the Oil Level

Start the engine and let it run for a couple of minutes. Turn off the engine and wait for a few minutes to allow the oil to settle. Check the oil level using the dipstick. If needed, add more oil to reach the appropriate level.
