Answer a call

When you hear or feel the call notification, raise your wrist to see who’s calling.

• Send a call to voicemail: Tap the red Decline button in the incoming call notification.
• Answer on your Apple Watch: Tap the Answer button to talk using the built-in microphone and speaker or a Bluetooth device paired with your Apple Watch.
• Answer using your iPhone or send a text message instead: Tap , then tap an option. If you tap Answer on iPhone, the call is placed on hold and the caller hears a repeated sound until you answer on your paired iPhone.

If you can’t find your iPhone, touch and hold the bottom of the screen, swipe up, then tap on your Apple Watch.

While you’re on a call

If you’re on a call that doesn’t use FaceTime audio, you can switch a call to your iPhone, adjust the call volume, enter numbers using the keypad, and switch the call to another audio device.

• Switch a call from your Apple Watch to your iPhone: While talking on your Apple Watch, unlock your iPhone, then tap the green button or bar at the top of the screen. You can quickly silence an incoming call by pressing the palm of your hand on the watch display for three seconds. Just make sure you have Cover to Mute turned on—open the Settings app on your Apple Watch, tap Sounds & Haptics, then turn on Cover to Mute.
• Adjust call volume: Turn the Digital Crown. Tap (Mic.) to mute your end of the call (if you’re listening on a conference call, for example).
• Enter additional digits during a call: Tap (...), tap Keypad, then tap the digits.
• Switch the call to an audio device: Tap (...), then choose a device.

During a FaceTime Audio call, you can adjust the volume, mute the call by tapping (mic.), or tap (...) and choose an audio destination.

Listen to voicemail

If a caller leaves voicemail, you get a notification—tap the Play button in the notification to listen. To listen to voicemail later, open the Phone app on your Apple Watch, then tap Voicemail.

On the voicemail screen you have these options:

• Adjust volume with the Digital Crown
• Start and stop playback
• Skip ahead or back five seconds
• Call back
• Delete the voicemail

Make phone calls on Apple Watch

Ask Siri. Say something like: • “Call Max” • “Dial 555 555 2949” • “Call Pete FaceTime audio”

Make a call

1. Open the Phone app on your Apple Watch.
2. Tap Contacts, then turn the Digital Crown to scroll.
3. Tap the contact you want to call, then tap the phone button.
4. Tap FaceTime Audio to start a FaceTime audio call, or tap a phone number.
5. Turn the Digital Crown to adjust volume during the call.

Tip: To call someone you’ve recently spoken with, tap Recents, then tap a contact. To call a person you’ve designated as a favorite in the Phone app on your iPhone, tap Favorites, then tap a contact.

Enter a phone number on Apple Watch

1. Open the Phone app on your Apple Watch.
2. Tap Keypad, enter the number, then tap .

You can also use the keypad to enter additional digits during a call. Just tap , then tap the Keypad button.

Make calls over Wi-Fi

If your cellular carrier offers Wi-Fi calling, you can use your Apple Watch to make and receive calls over Wi-Fi instead of the cellular network—even when your paired iPhone isn’t with you or is turned off. Your Apple Watch just has to be within range of a Wi-Fi network that your iPhone has connected to in the past

1. On your iPhone, go to Settings > Phone, tap Wi-Fi Calling, then turn on both Wi-Fi Calling on This iPhone and Add Wi-Fi Calling For Other Devices.
2. Open the Phone app (call) on your Apple Watch.
3. Choose a contact, then tap to call.
4. Select the phone number or FaceTime address you want to call.

Note: You can make emergency calls over Wi-Fi, but when possible, use your iPhone over a cellular connection instead—your location information is more accurate. Make sure your emergency address is up to date—on your iPhone, go to Settings > Phone > Wi-Fi Calling, then tap Update Emergency Address. If emergency services can’t locate you, they go to your emergency address

While you’re talking on your iPhone, you can view call information on your Apple Watch in the Phone app . You can also end the call from your Apple Watch (for example, if you’re using earphones or a headset).
